Explorers! Update 2.4 redefines combat variety and smooths out the early steps of your journey on Amiterra. Weapon progression has been completely reimagined around specialized archetypes, the Ancient Arena now lets you spot fellow adventurers, and the overhauled Tier 1 questline drops you straight into the action. Let’s dive into the details!
WEAPONS REWORKED
Upgrading your gear should offer more than just inflated stats. With Update 2.4, different combat styles now emerge as you advance through Tiers. This redesigned system expands your tactical options in battle, keeps progression engaging, and significantly lowers early crafting demands for new Explorers.
Combat Archetypes
Weapons are now divided into distinct archetypes with unique attack patterns and battle roles:
Melee Group:
⚔️ Swords — Rapid combos that unleash a cone-shaped finisher with enhanced critical damage.
🗡️ Spears — Wide sweeping strikes that can hit and knock back several enemies at close range.
Bows Group:
🏹 Standard Bows — Faster attacks for steady ranged damage.
💥 Explosive Bows — Arrows explode on impact, dealing area damage to enemies around the main target.
Pistols Group:
👈 Hand Cannons — Powerful shots that can stun and knock enemies back.
🔫 Burst Pistols — Fast bursts focused on consistent damage.
Rifles Group:
🎯 Standard Rifles — Shots pierce every enemy standing along their path.
🔄 Auto Rifles — Ricocheting bullets that bounce between multiple targets.
💣 Shotguns — Close-range blasts that hit every enemy inside a cone.
These options first appear on Uncommon weapons, and later at higher Tiers become available as Common variants, depending on the specific weapon archetype within the group.
Arsenal Progression Reimagined
Instead of repeating the same complete arsenal with higher stats, each Tier now features its own selection of weapon archetypes.
The system starts with simpler options and gradually introduces more specialized weapons from Tier 2 onward. For example, progressing along the Rifle tree might grant you a close-quarters Shotgun at Tier 1, a Standard Rifle at Tier 2, and an Auto Rifle at Tier 3. Similar progression paths apply to Melee, Bows, and Pistols. Certain favorite archetypes will also reappear at higher Tiers in upgraded, more powerful forms.
New Weapon: Shotgun
Built specifically for aggressive close-quarters combat, the Shotgun releases a wide cone of fire that hits multiple targets simultaneously. It shines brightest when you are swarmed by enemies or fighting through intense encounters in the Ancient Arena — allowing you to clear hostiles efficiently while conserving both time and weapon durability.
Weapon Improvements
We've made some improvements to make the weapon experience even better:
— Base Damage & Crafting — All weapons now deal noticeably higher damage and require fewer resources to craft. To balance these buffs, overall weapon durability has been slightly adjusted.
— Visuals & Audio — Weapon attack effects and audio assets have been updated across most of the arsenal. Pistols also feature brand-new firing animations.
— Automatic Upgrade — All weapons currently in your inventory or storage will automatically adjust to their new version — no recrafting required!
EXPLORERS IN THE ANCIENT ARENA
The Ancient Arena now feels more active! While preparing for your next run, you can now see other Explorers who are hanging out in the same hub area.
Note: The Arena remains a solo challenge. Once you start a challenge, other players disappear from view. They cannot join, assist, or interfere with your run — your trial remains entirely your own.
TIER 1 QUESTLINE REWORKED
We’ve given the opening storyline a major upgrade! The new Tier 1 experience features freshly scripted quests, cinematic cutscenes, streamlined tutorials, and faster pacing to get you into the action right away. It offers new Explorers a much clearer motivation to brave Amiterra. Available to all players who haven't completed the Tier 1 main storyline yet.
The Crashed Spaceship
The damaged spaceship that brought you to Amiterra is now an important part of Nexus Field and the beginning of your journey. As you progress through the early storyline, you will gradually repair its core systems, unlocking the mini-map and key interface features along the way.
The spaceship also gives your adventure a clear long-term goal: find your missing brother, restore the ship, and discover whether there is a way to leave Amiterra.
EXTRA CHANGES
A few smaller improvements have also arrived to make quests and important gameplay moments clearer.
— Constructions Hints — Unbuilt workstations in the Collection menu (including the Incubator, zone blockage, and resource extractors) now show clearer tool and requirement hints.
— Clearer Defeat Animation — Character defeat now features ragdoll physics for clearer visual feedback upon taking a final hit.
— Quest Items — Special quest items can now appear in your inventory. They are locked to their respective quests and cannot be stored or deleted, preventing accidental quest progression loss.
